Sofia Ingman

Tax LawyerBuilderFounder

A former cross-border tax lawyer, I became Notcoin's first ops hire, built the operating engine behind its growth from ~$100k to $40M (35M players), and ended up running it fully. Next: my own company — global, from zero. I'm in the search: for an idea worth years of my life, and a cofounder — a creative technical builder with a different brain from mine. See the work ↓

Now

Running Notcoin & Open Builders day-to-day — and building towards my own company: financial & compliance infrastructure for the crypto-native, global economy — AI-native financial operations, stablecoin payment rails.

The next company I build will be mine. Looking for a cofounder — a creative technical builder who attacks problems with a different brain from mine. Talk to me.

Work

Notcoin / Open Builders

2024 — now

Joined as the first ops hire with almost nothing in place, and built the ops and business engine the company ran on as revenue went ~$100k → $40M in six months (35M players, 70M+ ecosystem). Today I run it day-to-day; the founder has stepped back to become a near-silent shareholder.

  • Shaped strategy — identified and shipped the ecosystem bets behind the growth (tokens, viral games, stickers)
  • Spotted a revenue bottleneck and built the BD operation that cleared it — 80 clients, $5M+ revenue
  • Stood up a $20M treasury and trading operation from zero — fiat + crypto rails
  • Built group reporting and legal structure across 7 entities from scratch
  • Set up processes and organised a suddenly expanded team of 35 across the 7 entities

Telegram media network

2024 — now

Co-built a network of author-run channels monetised through ads — entirely in my spare time while still full-time at EY. Screened ~200 applicants down to 30 authors and designed every operation, pricing model and client relationship from scratch. It now runs with my high-level guidance — ~$300k earned to date.

Stezhok Books

2023 — 2024

My first company — an online bookshop selling curated bundles of Russian books to readers abroad. Owned every layer: sourcing, site, brand, community, delivery. When the unit economics wouldn't work, closed it net-positive by selling stock to a larger competitor.

Before

EY — cross-border tax

2018 — 2024

Six years at EY (Moscow → London): grew from junior consultant to manager, leading a team of 5.

  • Built a first-of-its-kind tax-audit diagnostic tool: researched 300+ cases to decode the logic, convinced a Partner to bet budget — and his name — on me, an unproven junior, then pitched ~100 clients myself and shipped it to 30
  • Became the go-to advisor for foreign SaaS on a new cross-border digital-services tax regime — 25+ companies, ~80% of the foreign IT players in the market
  • Led the tax workstream on a major pharma group's restructuring across 50+ countries — a year-long project with a £2M+ team budget

Education

Lund University — LLM

2017 — 2018

Master's in European & International Tax Law, School of Economics and Management. Thesis on whether personal data can be treated as consideration for VAT on "free" online platforms — grade A.

MGIMO — BA

2013 — 2017

International Business, Trade & Tax Law, Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Diploma with honours — GPA 91/100.

Personal

Path

I've moved countries more than once — Russia, Sweden, the UK — for study, for work, for opportunity. I don't sit still: "follow the energy and the opportunity" has always been my motto.

Hobbies

Ocean first: I surf whenever I can. Yoga is my daily discipline. I play tennis and hike — movement in general is non-negotiable. Next on my list: kitesurfing, shooting, riding a motorbike. Beyond sport — travelling, good food, good books.

What matters

Integrity and loyalty. Long-term relationships. Curiosity and drive. A challenge worth the effort — and zero patience for the status quo.

Books

Lately addicted to Irvin Yalom — fiction that doubles as a psychology course. And rereading Tolstoy's Anna Karenina.
